Projects

My interest revolves around robotics and automation. I am interested in using an embedded system to develop medical devices. I am working on building a sensor with the idea of data fusion and also developing an underwater remotely operated vehicle. The followings are some of the research projects I am working on.

Delta Robot

Delta robot is a 3-axis parallel manipulator. It has a unique kinematic design that allows it to perform translation without changing its orientation. A Delta robot is built in 2005 at Mahidol University to demonstrate this clever kinematic design.

5-DOF Servo Robot: Class Project

The 5-DOF robot is built from servo motors at low cost, less than 8,000 Baht (~$220 US). The instruction how to build this robot, user manual and the source code is freely available on the website. This robot is used in my robotic class as a student project.

Medical Navigation System

This research aims to develop a medical navigation system to provide visual information about a tool location with respect to another object, especially establishing a tool target in both position and orientation.

Postural Sway - Platform & Force Plate

A platform system is developed to investigate two-directional postural control. The moving platform can translate in both directions in the horizontal plane. A force plate is installed on the moving platform to measure center of pressure in response to the platform motion. The system provides two modes of operation: diagnosis and training modes.

Inertial Sensors

This research aims to develop hardware to measure angular position. First, one axis sensor is developed and later extended to three full axes. Various sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetic sensor are used. Their signals are combined to achieved better performance than a sensor alone.
